All our square timber is pressure treated, unless specified otherwise, using the new generation Osmose Celcure Ac-500. This process is when the timber has been impregnated with Osmose Celcure Ac-500 wood preservative designed to protect the product against wood decay and insect attack. Osmose Celcure Ac-500 treated timber can be used in a multitude of ways from agricultural fencing, garden projects and construction.

Laversdale Timber Carlisle and Wigton stock a wide range of pressure treated gate posts to hang our ever-growing range of gates.
All our posts are pressure treated to prevent fungal decay and insect attack. From wall battens for attaching your close board gates to the side of your house through to pyramid topped posts for the largest field gates, you can be sure we have the post you need to hang your gates.

Palisade/Picket Fencing

Laversdale Timber Carlisle and Wigton stock Palisade/Picket fencing boards, flat topped or round topped. Pointed tops can be made to order.

A Palisade/Picket Fence is traditional style of fencing produced from wooden pales attached to a rail with gaps left between the pales. This makes the perfect option to protect or mark out boundaries, but also allow light to pass through or people to see through the fence.

This type of fencing will blend in to almost all properties and gardens, so is a great option for use when protecting garden features such as ponds or swimming pools without blocking views or being too intimidating. New housing developments often use this type of fencing for boundaries.

Feather Edge Boards

An increasingly popular fence because of its versatility, strength and pleasing appearance. Feather edged fences are constructed by nailing overlapping individual boards vertically onto horizontal rails spanning two, or three, vertical posts.

Because of the wide variety of lengths, post and rails sizes it is possible for the installation to cope with variations in height, length and line in a fence run. Typically, a horizontal gravel board is used at the bottom of the fence to protect against mower & strimmer damage, soil creep and to reduce the tendency of the boards to suck moisture up the cut ends of the board. Capping on the top of the fence also helps against moisture ingress on the top edge of the board and provides an attractive straight line across the top edge.

Feather edged generally costs slightly more than traditional overlap panels but is stronger and longer lasting. Sometimes feather edged fences are double-skinned allowing both neighbours to view the best side.

Yorkshire Boarding is vertical wooden planks that are not butted together used as exterior cladding on buildings used as animal accommodation. Provides a wind break and is well ventilated. Examples include; garden sheds, garden decking and gazebos.

C-16 Wet Graded

Laversdale Timber Carlisle and Wigton can offer machine wet graded and kiln-dried timber to class C16 and visually graded timber is available subject to species availability and agreement.

Purlins are the horizontal structural members used in roof construction, they support the loads from the roof deck or sheathing and are supported by the principal rafters and/or the building walls. The use of purlins, as opposed to closely spaced rafters, is common in pre-engineered metal building systems, some timber frame constructions and in agricultural buildings.

CARCUSSING KILN DRIED C16

With Kiln Dried C16 carcussing studwork gets done quicker, easier and more cost effectively with eased edges and a smooth finish. All our timber for carcussing applications has dimensions that are regular and accurate for tighter, stronger construction. Paint, varnish and stains apply easier and the finished job should always look tidier. High pressure preservative treatment is standard.
